Of everything we make, resin pieces with a photo are the ones people keep for the most years. A breakfast gets eaten and flowers run out, but a frame holding a photo from a trip is still on the bedside table five years later. They are also the ones that depend most on something the customer controls and we don't: the photo you send us.
How the process works
Resin is poured in layers into a mould, with the photo and the inclusions placed between one layer and the next. It is not a print on a surface: the image sits inside the block, and that is what gives it depth. Between layers there is waiting, and at the end the piece has to cure.
That curing is what governs delivery dates. A resin piece cannot be made same-day. Depending on size and thickness, we need three to five days from the moment the design is approved. If your date is fixed, count backwards from it, not from the day you message us.
Which photos work
- Good resolution: the original from your phone's gallery, not a screenshot and not an image forwarded several times over WhatsApp. Each forward compresses it a little more, and it shows once enlarged.
- Faces large in the frame: the pieces are small. A full-body shot in a wide landscape leaves faces the size of a lentil. If the image can be cropped in close, it works.
- Clear contrast between subject and background: resin has a warm tone and softens greys. A photo that is already dark, or taken at night, loses detail inside the block.
- Few people: two or three faces read well. A group photo of twelve will not be distinguishable.
Which photos cause problems
Instagram screenshots, images with a watermark, very dark photos and anything already blurry. In those cases we would rather tell you before starting than hand over a piece where nothing is legible, because once resin cures there is no correcting it. Send the image over WhatsApp and we'll confirm the same day whether it works.
What else fits inside
Besides the photo, we can set a flower from a special bouquet (dried), a date, a name, a short phrase, a ticket or a leaf inside the block. Bulky or damp objects don't work: resin doesn't cure properly around moisture. If you have a flower you want included, start drying it now, because that adds days.
The occasions people order it for
Anniversaries, above all. It is the gift that best answers what to give someone who already has everything, because it cannot be bought anywhere else: the piece exists only because of that photo. It is also popular for graduations, for remembering a pet, and as a farewell gift.
We make personalized resin in Medellín from $20,000 COP, with home delivery in the city plus Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí, Bello and La Estrella.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a resin gift with a photo take?
Three to five days from design approval, depending on the size and thickness of the piece. It cannot be made same-day because resin needs to cure between layers.
What kind of photo should I send?
The original from your phone's gallery, well lit, with faces large in the frame and few people. Avoid screenshots and images forwarded many times over WhatsApp, since they arrive compressed.
Can a real flower go inside the resin?
Yes, if it is dried. A fresh flower holds moisture and resin doesn't cure properly around it. Drying adds days, so tell us early if you want one included.
